Having trouble cleaning that mysterious black stuff off your gas stove? I had my gas stove for a short period. It was something I always wanted, but I had no idea it would be high maintenance such as when cleaning. I decided that it was because of the flame. I try to cook clean and always clean spills as I noted, but somehow those little black dots that it is always seem to appear. I tried almost everything to get rid or at least I thought. To my surprise I found something that works like magic. Ammonia!

Ammonia is very stinky, so you want open a window or perhaps even do this outside. Take a gallon size zip lock bag, any brand will work. Place grids in the bag. Pour a little ammonia in a spray bottle and then spray the grates very good. Do not worry, you will not able to smell ammonia, after the bag is sealed. Let it sit for 8 hours or overnight is fine too. When time is up, cleaning is easy. The black stuff will just wipe off.

Regarding cleaning stovetops is the only way to achieve that is off of scraping with a razor blade. Do be very careful because they can scratch your paint. Sad to say that ammonia does not work on top the stove. I think it's because there is simply not a bag big enough to cover the pan. The furnace is also not same type of paint. Make sure you do not use this method on the grid iron. I do not know what it would do.

From what I understand the best way to clean the grates in cast iron is by putting them in your oven on the cleaning mode. If you do not have self-cleaning oven, then Simply heat your oven for half an hour with the grid there and then the black stuff should come right away.

The best defense This black thing is the woman of your stove every time you cook. If you cook on a burner again, before cleaning, you must cook on low all splashing. Even if you do not see anything, you should always dry before using again. This will eliminate most of the black stuff.
