Barefoot influence?
I am a 27 year old man in the warmer months I go barefoot much of the time when I'm not at work. I'm usually athletic / gym shorts with a Henley shirt or t-shirt. Sometimes I wear jeans. I do not even wear sandals. A few months ago (when it is warm out) I took my girlfriends son (13) and his friend from school. I drove there in bare feet. Both noticed I was barefoot and asked me questions. Then, a few days later I played my electric guitar, tapping my foot and he asked me about the fact that barefoot again. My GF half jokingly said that he will copy me and get yourself hurt. I do not see the big deal.
Children will mimic what adults do to them. Kids also love to go barefoot (and I know I have 3). As long as you a positive example (not walk barefoot on glass or on an unsafe place), I do not see what the big deal is. There is nothing wrong with driving in bare feet (I do it in the summer and my whole family was barefoot during long trips in our minibus) and there is certainly nothing bad about hanging out your house in bare feet play guitar. While the activities are not dangerous, where he cut his foot and could get an infection, his bare feet OK. Take him and his mother to the park, and all you can kick off your shoes and play a game of frisbee barefoot. It is a very fun and it can calm his mother down.
